- Scrape off any dried residue. Use a dull knife or spoon to gently lift off any crusty bits of ketchup. Be careful not to rub the stain deeper into the fabric.
- Rinse the stain with cold water. Hold the shirt under a stream of cold water, running it from the back of the stain to push it out. This helps rehydrate the dried stain and loosen particles.
- Apply dish soap directly to the stain. Squirt a small amount of dish soap onto the affected area. Gently work it in with your fingers or a soft-bristled brush, using a circular motion. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes.
