How to Remove Fresh Coffee from a Cotton Dish Towel
Fresh coffee on a cotton dish towel can become a permanent brown mark if left untreated. Here's how to lift it quickly with gentle dish soap and white vinegar, plus cotton-specific care.
Spilled coffee on your favorite cotton dish towel? Don't panic. Fresh coffee stains are much easier to remove than dried ones, but you need to act quickly. The sooner you treat the stain, the better your chances of getting the towel completely clean.
Cotton is a natural fiber that absorbs liquids readily, which means coffee can soak in fast. But with the right steps, you can lift the stain before it sets. Here's a practical, safe method using common household items.

What to Do First
As soon as you notice the spill, blot the area with a clean white cloth or paper towel to absorb as much coffee as possible. Work from the outside of the stain toward the center to prevent spreading. Avoid rubbing, as that can push the coffee deeper into the fibers.
If the towel is heavily saturated, rinse the stained area under cold running water from the back of the stain. This helps push the coffee out rather than through the fabric.
