How to Remove Tea from a White Cotton T-Shirt: Fresh and Dried Stain Methods

Tea stains on a white cotton t-shirt are common but can be removed with the right approach. Whether the stain is fresh or dried, acting quickly and using the correct methods will give you the best chance of restoring your shirt. What to Do First

For a fresh tea spill, immediately blot the stain with a clean white cloth or paper towel to absorb as much liquid as possible. Do not rub, as this can push the stain deeper into the fabric. Then flush the stain from the back with cold running water for 1–2 minutes. Never use hot water—heat can set the tannins in tea, making the stain permanent. Assess the stain age: if it’s less than 30 minutes old, it’s fresh; if it has dried, you’ll need a stronger approach.
